nenedent® Junior toothpaste

Information

“Happy teeth-cleaning” now also available for growing children!

nenedent® Junior toothpaste was especially developed for the change from milk teeth to the permanent teeth for children in the 6–12 years age group. The dental enamel of the new, permanent teeth is still thin and not yet fully hardened immediately after eruption. Daily consumption of foodstuffs and beverages containing sugar and acidic substances means that the tooth enamel is under permanent attack. nenedent® Junior offers the necessary protection. It hardens the tooth enamel with 1,450 ppm of sodium fluoride and inhibits the growth of caries bacteria with 13% xylitol. The D-panthenol (provitamin B5) acts to protect the gums from irritation caused by further emerging teeth. The good taste is a motivation for growing children to clean their teeth on a regular basis.

Product benefits:

  • 1450 ppm fluoride
  • 13 % xylitol
  • Silica gel as abrasive
  • D-panthenol

Active ingredients

Fluorides are mineral salts of the element fluorine and count as trace elements. They occur in nature in the form of numerous minerals, for example in water and foodstuffs. In the human body, they are needed to build up teeth and bones. Fluorides are employed in dental medicine to prevent caries, also known as tooth decay or cavities. For this, their remineralising effect is used to reinforce the durability of the dental enamel.

In terms of taste, xylitol is very similar to household sugar and has virtually the same sweetness. When eaten, it brings about a cooling effect in the mouth as warmth is removed from its surroundings when it comes into contact with saliva. Various varieties of fruit and vegetables act as natural sources of xylitol, but it also occurs in larger quantities in birch bark. The caries-inhibiting effect of xylitol was discovered in the 1970s. It was proven to bring about a significant reduction in caries, also known as tooth decay or cavities. In addition, xylitol stimulates saliva production and promotes remineralisation of the substance of the teeth.

Silica gel or silicic acid occurs in nature as opal and in the cell walls of rock algae. In toothcare products, it is used as a mineral abrasive for gentle and thorough cleaning.

Panthenol, also known as provitamin B5 or dexpanthenol has a clinically proven healing effect. It is a common component of ointments for wounds and plays a significant role in the formation of new skin. Alongside supporting healing, it increases skin moisture and provides support for our skin barrier. As a component of junior toothpaste, panthenol promotes the healing of wounds left by teeth that have fallen out and new ones erupting during second dentition.
